Education is at the heart of lasting change. We partner with universities and educators to lift outcomes for learners across our community.

Education & Development

Tuition Programme

Our tuition programme has dramatically lifted local students' science and maths results, thanks to funding from UKZN and Dokimos.

Educators provide facilities, notes, recordings and small lunches — living out a "grace for grace" philosophy. A new computer centre has been built to support student learning.

Our partnership with the university has brought hope to many students whose chances of post-school studies were made possible through the help of the university.

Ongoing life-skills programmes on ethics, anti-bullying, respect and honour are held at several under-privileged schools.

Maths Intervention Programme

UKZN College of Humanities (School of Applied Human Sciences) and the College of Health Sciences partnered with Dokimos Foundation, Hill of Blessing Church and Dr Daniel Krupanandran to pilot a Maths Intervention Programme preparing matric learners for the Grade 12 Maths, Physics and Accounting exams.

Learners are exposed to academic teaching and psychosocial support from UKZN graduates across Accounting, Medicine, Psychology and Business — addressing education and well-being together.

The programme has continued into 2023 and now provides support for over 60 learners on Saturdays.

Career Day

UKZN Career Day at Dokimos

Three of UKZN's four colleges hosted their first-ever School Liaison Career Day at the Dokimos Foundation premises in Verulam. Grade 11 and 12 learners and parents from Siphesihle, Glenhaven and Mountview Secondary attended — gaining clarity on enrolment, courses in the College of Humanities, CAO applications and student funding options.
